Departure day

Today's the day to head for Scotland. I'm trying out this blog for the first time, so forgive me if it's less than exciting :)

Talking to a bank rep yesterday to set a travel alert on a credit card, she asked me for some security information. One of the questions was, "What was your high school mascot?" When I told her we were the Highlanders, she laughed and said "Isn't that great, that your mascot was the Highlanders and now you're going to Scotland?"  "Yes, I've always wanted to go," I said. So here we go.
(Note to self: change security questions)

When I searched for the latest Baldwin High School Highlanders image, this is what came up (purple and white are the school colors).  Definitely doesn't look like the one we had in the late '70s.

This is going to be a long travel day, but at least we're flying out of T.F. Green, so we don't have to deal with the get-to-Logan hassle. From Providence we go through Philly, then head for Glasgow overnight.  I'm not expecting to get the maximum 6 hours of sleep on the plane, so when we land in Glasgow bright and early, we'll do our best to beat the jet lag by powering through the day.

Herb is interested to see how the Scots are feeling about Brexit. I'm hoping that being an Outlander fan/tourist won't be too embarrassing. And I hear there's an amazing dessert called sticky toffee.
